Sounds fun, just check how often the blinds go up and the starting chips and then you can compare it to an online site that would be similiar. Play the 200 one, less rake. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

The rake on the $200 is very good, I wonder if they have trouble filling a table with that buy-in.

I've played a few live Sng's at a track about 2 hours away and it is a lot of fun and the competition is horrible at the 20 level.

Total played: 2
ITM % 100
$ won: 200

i've played in a lot of single table satellites here in vegas.... structure is usually at least as fast as Party... sometimes takes a while to get a table filled..

while it's interesting to play live--- and you can do some things that you aren't able to do online (having some actual good reads on people)-- it hasn't been very profitable for me.

Here's the real question. Are the games fishier when the casino doesn't use proper English on their webpage?

A 9-seated 'home game' is all that I could equate it to.

I play a couple times a month with a handful of 'rookies'...and usually proceed to get trounced!

I think there are two primary problems I face in these live games.

One is the number of hands you'll see/play, compared to online. These guys usually bump the blinds every 15min. But between the bullshitting and the shuffling, you just don't see that many hands. So my tight/aggressive style is usually negated while bleeding with the blinds.

Secondly, is THEY JUST DON'T KNOW BETTER TO FOLD /images/graemlins/wink.gif
Too many family pots, etc. Big raises PF don't make much difference to these guys. Oh well, all in fun anyway.

I too have been interested in sitting in on some small tourneys at the indian casino nearby. Assuming those that bother to show up and pay their money might exercise a little more discipline, I'm still wondering if you don't have to splash around a little more in respect to the 'seeing less hands' problem. Or maybe in these sng's you're speaking of, the blind structure addresses this.

Good luck to you - please report back!!

Bluefeet, by your definition, that will make these games VERY attractive to me.

Play at Jackpot is reportedly very poor.

I can't comment firsthand as I haven't been there since they started offering poker...

which one are you planning on playing? They definately wont be profitable compared to online with drive and fact that it should take longer. But either way should be alot of fun.

Considering that this casino is out in the sticks, I'm pretty sure the statement "allin" generally refers to those who have a full set of teeth.

we play a ton of these in our 'friendly' home games and they are probably the toughest tourneys i play.

they hold them often at Commerce when they have big tourney's coming up and at Hawaiin Gardens for $100+8...both are very fishy. People have no clue about proper SNG play and its often 4-5 handed with blinds at level two or three. Downside (or upside...) at the Commerce games is winner take all. Also the rake at Commerce is pretty steep.

Well, this is my prediction. I'm hoping it's right. Prolly head UP there sometime in the next month. I'll report back with how many teeth they got.

200+5 and it pays 50, 30, 20 is awesome...

the casino by here, has 130+5s, but after I did the math on the pay outs, It only pays out (rounded) 43%, 25%, 17%, so there taking a ton of cash out of each sng, plus the dealers usually get tipped $10-20...

I'm interested in hearing about the "8-11" players part. how does this work? when would they run a SNG with 8 as opposed to 10, and when would they run with 11?

Scuba, when you do finally make it up there, please let us know how they handle this.

So its not actually a 130+5? There is more rake than $5?

How could they do this without telling you? This sounds insane.

Scuba, did you (or anyone else) ever try this out? I think I'm going to try these in the next couple weeks.

I used to play a bunch back in WA. They weren't sit n gos, but they were daily tournaments with an added prizepool to get players to play the ring games. Structure was mega quick like party, in fact I think it was the exact same structure as the $55s+, they just never stopped increasing blinds.

I owned the [censored] out of those things. Piece of cake /images/graemlins/cool.gif
