Yes, by the most annoying thing...ever? Do you use netscape? It is a huge pain in the ass for me.

I understand the necessity of advertising, but I can't say I miss it.

Get Firefox and install Adblock and Flashblock. I haven't seen an ad on 2+2 in about 8 months.

I'm on firefox and keep getting 'failure to connect to conjelco..." error alerts, which are annoying as hell (two popped up while typing this. I'm installing (make that three popups) the adblock stuff now (4).

not that your method didn't work, but it just stopped now anyway.

Ah, adblock worked fine. Whew, that was getting incredibly annoying. Their ad server is unbelievably slow.

These stupid pop up things are really, really pissing me off.

I've got Adblock, but how did you set it up to fix this?

In firefox just click the X to make it stop trying to load the nonexistant ads.

You have to set it up to work with each ad by right-clicking the ad, then checking down the menu where it says to block ads from that location.

Even with it, though, I still get pop ups constantly. I've gotten at least 30 "The operation timed out while attempting to contact adserver.conjelco.com. They just won't stop. I think maybe an ad is try to load that I haven't blocked yet. It's funny in a sick way; every few seconds, that box comes up twice.

When you do that, it just tries to load again. I'm up to about 50 attempts in the last few minutes.

EDIT: Oops, you mean at the top of the browser. Problem is, of course, that the whole page stops loading when you do that.

There goes another six more. Oops, eight.

Yeah I get this the whole time even with adblock.

I'm having "problems" with the ads not coming up (right now) but it's not slowing down the page loading.

ok so I googled this for a little bit and if you type about:config in the address bar and then change the value of browser.xul.error_pages.enabled to true then I think you don't get the popup errors anymore at all, I haven't got any yet

I think it means that in general whenever there's an error it sends you to an error page like in ie rather than having a little message box about it, but that doesn't happen on 2+2 because the error isn't with the main page it's loading. So I don't know how else this will affect browsing yet, try it if you want.

For whoever has adblock installed, you can install a filter set found here (http://www.geocities.com/pierceive/adblock/) which enables wild cards that pretty much all ads use such as ad.jpg etc etc. It also blocks known ad servers.

Just download the newest filter set and install.

Voila!
