Does betting the flop make this hand easier to play? My thinking at the time is that I wanted to wait for a same turn card to come to invest chips into this pot. I hadn't seen the villain limp prior to this hand.

I probably bet 1600 or so on this flop, because I want to know where I'm at. If I get any action, I'm not putting anything more into this hand, even if it means possibly giving a free river card to AhX.

I lay down on the turn; the only thing you're ahead of here is AhX or some weirdly played middle pair + flush draw.

Given the blinds and the stacks of Hero and Villian, I'd say betting 1500-1800 on the flop looks like a fine bet. Villian only has 12k so it will be easy to define his hand by betting a wealthy amount. I think the turn is a fold because Villian doesn't have a strong stack, he checked the flop in position, and then pushed the turn when someone bet. I doubt a king is any good.
