For a game called TEXAS Hold 'Em, I think it's totally lame that I can't find a place to play it here.

WTF? I HATE YOU TEXAS!

By the way. This is now 2 days without playing poker. Kind of strange. Unsurprisingly, I am on 2+2 posting about it.

When (if) you take time off, how long are the stretches? I'd be willing to wager most of the posters here don't take breaks.

You mean the waterpark?

Hah.

Nothing like a 31 year old married guy going to the waterpark to leer at 17 year olds.

It's New Braunfels (Sorry, I went to school there for my senior year before moving back to San Antonio). Yeah, it sucks that there is no poker in Texas, even some free games in local bars were getting shut down by vice squads, because some of them were giving away seats a the WSOP they said it was gambling (this was all over the state). Poker in Texas is pretty much limited to home games, a few select bars, Indian reservations, and casino cruises at the coast. Sorry you hate Texas. Austin really isn't that bad, just go to 6th street on a Friday or Saturday and you'll forget all about poker.

when I was in Dallas last year I was shocked to realize that I was in a "dry" county where alcohol could not be legally sold- there were even liquor stores with no liquor.

Yeah, lol. When i was typing that, i was like, damn, im not sure how to spell it.

I really only went up there a few times, i spent 8 months in Seguin, working for a steel mill there. It was kinda culture shock for a 20 year old kid from vancouver. My best memory is the breakfast tacos. It blew my mind at first. Tacos for breakfast? wtf? Then i had one. I was hooked. I recomend the barbacoa, or bacon/egg/cheese. mmmmmmm /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

So we (my wife and her friend and husband) are here in this haunted hotel, draining the minibar.

This is very -EV.

Check out 5th st/warehouse district instead if you're not into the college crowd. If you want to rock out head over to Red River. I wish I could help you out with finding a game as I used to play regularly when I lived in Austin. Honestly though you probably get 10x more action playing online. It's not like there are big bright casinos attracting fish in Austin.

If you get a chance you should rent a boat and chill out on Lake Travis.
