Why dont sklansky and malmuth play in big tourneys?
(Like the WSOP) it would probably promote book sales.

Probably too much downside risk. Very small chance he would win the tournament, and with the way the general poker playing public glorifies the champions, Sklansy's image could be tarnished.

David does play some WSOP events, but only the biggest tournaments are really worth his time since he would usually have a higher EV and lower variance in high-stakes ring games.
