You can use them for some sites.
The sites do not charge a fee, but does AMEX
charge the cardholder a fee or a cash advance charge?

Several online sportsbooks take AMEX.
A friend of mine called me last night to say he funded his poker acct at WSEX with AMEX.
I know wsex does not charge a fee for AMEX,
but I was wondering if he will be charged a fee from AMEX when he gets his bill.
I dont have an AMEX, but if there is no charge for using it at gaming sites (like a cash advance) I might get one
(depending on the yearly fee that they charge).

(like a cash advance)

cash advances are NOT a common thing for amex.

the new card "blue" allows a small percentage of your total credit line to be used for cash advances. most amex gold accounts do not allow for cash advances at all.

the point is that i can almost GUARANTEE it will not come back as a cash advance, as amex is the strictest cc company on the planet. amex was the first cc company, wayyy back, that made it clear that their cards cannot be used for online gaming or quasi-cash.

95% of ATM machines will not work for amex cards, even if you have one where cash advances are allowed. the atm machine owners don't like to process amex because they are so strict and expensive.

in the casino you can't get cash advances on your AMEX where i play either.

all these facors make me guess that the cc processor that is accepting amex charges does NOT have the merchant account coded for gaming.
