View Full Version : I'm Back! (Like anyone cares, LOL!)

Whew! Where did the summer go? I have been very busy this summer, looking after a Junior Golf Tour here in Alberta (24 events) and have had little or no time for poker, or the Forum. But I'm back to a more sane schedule, and getting back into the scene.

Quick glance at the various 2+2 sections this am, nice to see most of the familiar names. Will be coming down to LV and LA in mid-October, so looking forward to seeing Brier, Rick N, and the crew then. More news to come on that later.

They just finished an almost year-long renovation project at the Palace Casino at West Edmonton Mall, and the poker room got the usual short end of the stick. Five tables (non-smoking) crammed way into the back. Brutal. Played a couple of times, reminded me of the action at HG and The Bike last fall with the game always short-handed because everyone is on a smoke break. Watch for the crowd to drift back to the nice 12-table room at Yellowhead when the novelty wears off at the Palace.

Game has now gone full 24 hours at WEM. Took advantage early Sunday morning before my 11:30 tee time and caught the allnighter's stuck and steaming at 9:00 am. Hit a couple of blinds, walked out with about $225 in just over an hour in a 6-12 game. Just lucky, but one guy kept trying to push me off pots where I'd flopped trips!

Anyway, hope to start back getting into the Forum, and offering up my two cents' worth.

Great to hear from you Dunc. I was wondering what had happened to you. Have you played at all in the last six months? I have your results for January and February but nothing since then.

Wondered why I haven't heard from you for a spell. Glad your back.

Very little, Jim. I didn't play once in July, for example, and only sporadically since May. Sorry about not getting the spreadsheet down to you. I am going to fire it up again for September thru the rest of the year.

Looks like I will coming into LV about Oct 22 or so. Will keep you posted.

Thanks, Tom. Hope you have been well.

Something about running golf tournaments when you are at the course at 7, and get home (maybe) by 10 that night that cuts into the old poker time. But it was very interesting summer. Damn, those kids can sure play golf! Had one 15 year old shoot a 9-under 63 in the Alberta Junior this summer on a tough golf course, and he missed a 3-footer on 18 for 62 and a 29 on the back. Sheesh.

Maybe sometime in Vegas we can get 2+2 golf outing going. Are you playing online anymore?

09-05-2001, 04:36 PM
That might be fun. I would need shots, though. I'm really playing lousy this year.

I have played some online as well. Mostly 3-6 and some 5-10 on Paradise. Holding my own, nothing special.

Are you in Vegas now, or would just make the trip if we got the golf gig going?

Why did you have to come back to see me try and push Stu off his pocket queens and then tilt raise with 42o on the button? Why didn't you come watch all the nights I played well instead of THAT night? (:

Good to see you back.

Dunc,

I care, but I'll stop caring if you don't buy me a dinner next time we are both in Vegas at the same time.

I'm still in Albuquerque. I'm no great shakes either on the course I think I'd be the one that needs the strokes. Doesn't Brier play golf? He could give us both some.

Actually, Dave, I didn't notice anything unusual about your game. LOL

I gave Stu hell later for letting you push him (or at least try to push him) around on that QQ hand. If he analysed the play correctly, and got into your head even one little bit, he should have KNOWN you were making a play, and re-popped you on the turn. He might have lost one BB, but sent a message.

He's been running bad, but I think it's partly because he is such as easy target some times for players who do successfully push him off hands.

Vinnie, I would be honored to treat you to the buffet at the Mirage. If I can get a comp. LOL

I just firmed up the schedule today. Will be in town, along with a side trip to LA, from Oct 21-28. You gonna be there?

Unfortunately I will not be in Vegas until late November or early December. That Mirage Buffet (comp) sounds great. Just ask Donna Harris for the comp. tell her you know me. I think she loves me. Well maybe I hope she loves me. Could be she loathes me but I can live with that. She's gorgeous.
