View Full Version : $.50/$1 vs 2/4 or 3/6

I am hoping for some opinions.

It seems to me that it is easier to win at a 2/4 or 3/6 table vs. a $.50/$1 table.

Any opinions?

It seems that the blinds eat your bankroll and the pots are smaller.

However, most players seem equally unpredictable at all of these stakes.

what? .5/1 is clearly an inferior game. im not sure if this post is even supposed to be here, but .5/1 is full of loose, passive opponents and some LAGs too, if your having trouble at .5/1, then you need to work on your game. go visit the micro forum and buy small stakes hold 'em. 2/4 and 3/6 are beatable too no doubt but .5/1 is nothing. perhaps you should get pokertracker/playerview and see if that helps...

I'm not having trouble winning .50/1 dollar or 2/4 or 3/6. It's just something I noticed. If you're playing tight aggressive against loose/passive players, you take a lot of bad beats on long shot draws. Have you noticed that before?

anyone who cant beat $.5/1 needs to move up and play higher limits because you dont get retarded suckouts from people who cant play. If you cant beat .5/1 its probably because everyone else is so bad.

Make fun if you choose, but down deep you know .5/1 full ring is a PIA. 4+ to the river every hand can get frustrating.

That doesn't have anything to do with it being easier or harder than 2/4 or 3/6, as mentioned in the original post. Yes, you get sucked out on a lot, but when you hold up the pots you drag are bigger (in terms of bets).

The higher limits you play, the easier it gets.

If you think it's easier to win at 2/4 and 3/6 you should try 15/30 or 30/60. They bascially give you money there.

If you get bored here, you can play something like 50/100 or 150/300 at UB. You can play these heads up, which is even better, b/c then any two cards can win. So, now you can suck out on the other players!

Since I play .5/1 on Empire, I'll comment with a real reply.
The suckouts are brutal, and if your prone to tilting then .5/1 is sucide. You see guys cold call 3 bets with 35s, and catch a runner runner straight, beating Pocket Aces.
Annoying as hell and beats like that happen frequently. However, if you play solid poker you will win a few BB/100 no problem. If your having a downswing don't worry, the money will come back. Just don't tilt, that will ruin things.

I couldnt agree with PokerCat more...I also play quite a bit at .50/$1 on a number of different sites. Its when I tilt from a bad beat that I lose my money there. One has to realize that with 3-4 people going to the river on many tables that bad beats are going to happen. Cant tell you the number of times Ive seen miracle cards hit folks when they shouldnt have been in the hand in the first place. That's the nature of .50/$1, adjust your game accordingly.

Oh, and get some rakeback and whore those bonuses..... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have cleared at least 20K at low limits not including bonuses and rake kickbacks(if you include that it's closer to 30K) and I for the life of me can't beat those scrubs at .5/1 for much in real dollars or BB. I just don't adjust to playing 4 clueless retards at once. The suckouts you get are strange beyond belief......... /images/graemlins/confused.gif /images/graemlins/blush.gif
