button is fairly unknown... haven't seen him do anything to make me think he's either good or bad

I think so. I wouldn't be surprised if he's trying to push a failed flush draw through

Not calling this river would be inconsistent with your flop call. If you don't have enough doubt to call the river, you should have dumped it to the flop c/r.

Button could easily have missed a flush draw the way they played this hand. So I would say yes. If they are a decent player, the cold-call preflop makes it less likely that you have them beaten. But without a read I think I would call this.

i'm not a huge fan of bet/folding the flop after trying to steal, but i see what you're saying
