The preflop raiser called two bets cold, including a raise from someone universally considered to be a strong player.

My question is, with just two overcards and a backdoor flush draw, is this play fundamentally correct? Feel free to respond to the question in general or specific to certain situations.

Ed, based on your description, it was a greater EV to call on the flop rather than reraise and try to clear out the field against Vinnie?
There are a lot of cards that you don't want to see come on the turn, so why you were calling with the plan to raise the turn seems a little questionable.

Trying not to be results-oriented, you win the pot if you drop Herbert on the flop (is he calling here for 2 more bets with draws?)
