worked for me. I had to order my two separately though. This is the LINK (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=320-1578&cs=19&c=us&l=en) I ordered from.

Warm price for this early in the dell quarter. It has gone as low as $379 in the past month. Be sure to create a fatwallet account and link to the dell page through them to get an extra 3% off if you need to purchase it now.

Cubswin,

I need to buy at least one now. Should I wait on a second monitor or will I have to wait more than a couple weeks?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I fixed it by ordering separately.

I wish Dell's web site didn't suck(or I am a moron, one or both of the two). I can't figure out how this Preferred Account payment plan works. My APR is 25% and I apparently don't qualify for any special financing plans, but I thought everyone had no interest for two months. Can I use this PA plan and pay it off immediately instead of using CC?

Bah, I'll probably just put it on the Amex.

Is saving $50-80 or so dollars worth going a month without her? Given what you said in your previous post....BUY BUY BUY!!!! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Okay, so do these coupons expire after a certain number of uses(5000 global uses for example) or are they 100% time dependent?

Cubswin
05-11-2005, 08:11 PM
You can never tell... and dell will lie about the terms and end them short of the expiry sometimes. When they had the end of the quarter refurb blowout i think they said the extra % off was limited to 1000 uses (if i remember correctly). Id wager that way more then that number of coupons were used.

Should I buy now or later (ie wait for a better price. It's not important for me to have a monitor before August).

Does anyone have any clue what this applies to(from fatwallet dell home deals):

$1200 Off Select Dimension Desktop - Evalue Code 11111- DXPS4AF • w/ Coupon TV6QCVD0FJF2D$ • (may not be combinable w/ $ off, % off, or select other promos - exp after 1000 uses) exp 5/12/05

Yes, it's for the XPS Gen cpu. It's kind of weird and I'm not sure what's going on,it's not exactly $1200 off but here's what you do to look into it. Search for evalue code on Dell's site and you will find a page to enter in a code. Enter the code and then you will be shown the light.

it's a good price. you'll probably find a slightly better one (around $400) by August.

So I've got a notebook and would like to get a second one of these. It looks like the only real option is the VTBook (http://www.villagetronic.com/e_pr_vtbook.html). However, according to thier compatibility page (http://www.villagetronic.com/vtbook/compatibility.html#delld) regarding the 2001FP:

"This display is known to have problems with various graphics cards at the native resolution of 1600x1200DVI. At that resolution VTBook may not be able reliably drive this display through the DVI connector."

It says that there may be problems at "1600x1200DVI". Does this seem to imply problems when connected via VGA, or solely when using DVI?

Thanks a lot for the post. I've been waiting for a deal on the 2001FPs. I missed that last awesome deal from Dell. I know that I could probably wait a bit more and save an extra $100 or so, but I think I'd rather get to dual-monitors a little faster and shell out the extra cash.

Seems to imply that VGA is fine, since they specify it as a DVI problem. Never know, though. The problem could really be with the video card, not the monitor, too, especially since laptops often have crappy and/or finicky videocards even when the laptop is very expensive.

where on the dell site does that extra 3% off show up?

mb2696

it doesn't show up on the dell website. it is a rebate through fatwallet. once dell notifies fat wallet of the purchase, you can view the rebate status on fat wallet. also, just like other rebates, it takes time.
