UTG was a maniac, never knew what he/she had. Since a single heart could beat me I folded. Realise that I should have either folded the turn or called both turn and river but which one?

you hate to fold but he is betting into a fairly protected pot (the sidepot is only like 6 bucks after his turn bet)..did you have a read? I would have a hard time calling this down absent a read given most 1-2s are loose passive and he limped utg and caled 3 back, a loose passive fishy move, then check-called the flop and lead the turn.

Its either fold or let him bluff

Against a maniac in this nice-sized pot, I call down. Calling the turn and then folding the river is just ridiculous, but oyu knew that already.

Given your read that villain was a maniac, call down. As you said, calling the turn but folding the river is really bad.
