that ___1___ thread scared the [censored] out of me, so I'm looking to do a better job protecting my computer. I'm pretty lazy so I basically just have what Windows came with, Norton Anti-Virus, and Ad-Aware which I run maybe once every few weeks. can someone please make me a list of stuff I need to do. I need Firefox right? I have the standard Windows firewall.

thanks

Well, just from what i saw when i was poking around in your system, you need to get rid of all that damn kiddie porn. However, i was curious how you ever got evan to pose for those pictures....

I don't claim to know much, but Norton Antivirus has always been good for me. Just make sure you have your subscription updated or whatever. Also I have Microsoft Anti-Spyware (which I've heard good reviews for, for the most part). It's worked fine for me so far and it's a free download on microsoft's site.

I'll be first in line to ask the inevitable "what's the ____1____ thread?"

edit: nevermind i found it

funny you are mentioning this I was just at Staples looking at an APC Backup Battery ~$150 for supposed 90 minutes of power backup.I live in Florida and the power surges and lightening strikes are so common down here that I feel it's worth investing a bit to protect myself. If it saves me 2-3 pots a year it will pay for itself.4 months out of the year there are almost daily lightening storms.

I too use NAV2005,adAware,Microsoft Anti-Spyware and Spybot.HijackThis useful tool.
I've held off transitioning to FireFox.

ProcessGuard (http://www.diamondcs.com.au/processguard/) is an excellent low level system protection that makes it much harder for trojans and crap like that to install on your system.
