View Full Version : Open Raising Standards w/ Blind Posted Behind You

I have come to the conclusion that the additional dead money in a pot when someone has posted has a very significant implication on the hands you should open raise with.

I have always understood the concept in principle, but I don't believe that I had properly adjusted my raising standard for this.

Examples of my revised raising standards:

KJ offsuit from early middle position.
AT offsuite from 2nd or 3rd position.
Any pair above 66 from 2nd or 3rd position.

Any comments/suggestions on these adjustments to open raising standards in this situation (assuming a table of average pre-flop and post-flop players in mid-level limit games).

Note: I also posted this to the General Theory Forum

I think you have drawn the wrong conclusion. With more players posting blinds, you can expect to be called in multiple places and end up playing those weak hands against several opponents with the worst position.

You should be limping with more hands but raising approximately the same amount.

You KJ and AT examples are easy folds.
66 is a limping hand.
