If I understand you correctly, you're making a mistake here... just because the structure is different doesn't mean it's a crapshoot. You just need different skills. There's still plenty of room for good players to have an edge at Party.

I think I was trying to trap, a bit - at least preflop. This player was, as far as I could tell, laying down a lot when he checked and persisting when he bet, so I figured he had probably missed the flop when he checked. I felt sure I had the best hand on the turn but was very confused by the call, but I called the river since I still thought I had the best hand.

The second hand I was a bit disturbed by was your AKo - from Level 4.

If they guy was short I like it, but this guy has enough to cripple you.

I think you only get called here when you are beat, and this being a $5 - people would call both Preflop and on the flop with AT, KT, not to mention any PP that could have given em a set.

I would have bet out less - about 800, and folded to a raise. I don't think a player bluffs here very often when facing a raise that is close to half their stack, but you get away cheaper when they have a hand.

Count the chips again. The preflop bet was 500 (PokerRoom screws these things up, it's 450 + 50 SB = 500), with the BB and the other limper there's 1200 in the pot on the flop.

So say I bet 800. Villian here has about 1450 chips left after the preflop call so if I bet 800 and he pushes it's 650 more to call into a 3450 pot, or I'm getting 5.3:1 on the call. I need 6:1 to call if I'm *sure* he has AT, and it's much better if he has KT or JJ. There is no way I can fold to a raise, and 1200 chips is a large increase to my stack; so if I'm going to call an allin even if I hate doing it then it's better to just push in the first place... right?

as for the KQs - I understand the reason for limping, I just hate to open limp. I would have limped behind if UTG limped - no problem, But I just almost never open limp.
