How many X BB do you raise heads up?

I play the Party Sit n Go's and when it gets heads up, the blinds are at least 200-400 or400-800. When it's even at 4000 chips a piece, is it all in mode all the time?

I have found when I double the blind from the button preflop, I am getting way too many calls.

Is the rule of thumb still 3 times the BB unless it's over half your stack, then just move all in?

So as an example: It's even at 4000 apiece and blinds are 200-400. I am the small blind on button. If I raise to 1200 I have 2800 left. If the BB thinks I'm stealing with junk (a good possibility) he reraises all in for 4000. Now there is 4000 + my 1200 in pot of 5200. I have 2800 to call so I am not quite getting 2-1. So I guess I am folding unless I have something decent.

If I am raising all in with 10x the blind, then I have no room for error. I need the BB to fold, unless of course I have a good hand.

I think that I prefer leaving myself some bullets at that level. Does anyone else feel that way?

No. In fact I think this is the opposite of the way you should be thinking. In my opinion, it is very important for YOU to be the aggressor and put the pressure on your opponent.

If you raise to 1200, he reraises all in and you fold, you've just given up almost 1/3 of your stack for no reason.

If you push right away, there is absolutely no way for your opponent to "outplay" you. He will need a very strong hand to call you, so most of the time you will take his blind. I'll do this with any A, any K, any PP, etc. One thing I've noticed is that after several hands like this, my opponent gets frustrated and starts calling with trash like J3. This of course leads to suckouts every once in awhile, but that's part of the game...

Your aggressiveness does have to be dependant a little bit on your opponent's style. If they fold their blind too much, by all means push liberally. If they're more apt to call, you have to be a bit more selective.
