I love how if you check your hand, opponents look at the singular turn or river card as the only card that matters...I assume that we're going to split the pot but seeing we're not, this is probably the most i can raise right?

B/c of the moronic bets i'd get from the villain if i did hit something on the river..The guy was hemorrhaging cash and for once (i usually bet) i took the free card off. Results-oriented or not, i'm glad i did.

i'd have made it $10. it makes it simple, either you're splitting or villain has to decide if you really have an ace or not. if he makes loose calls, give him a chance to make a big one.
