Is there anything one can put on the ground to make DDR quiet for those living below me?

You could try to cushion it, but if you live in any apartment or condo built in the last 5 years I doubt it. They use as little material between floors as possible. Even walking around causes the ground to shake.

I think I'd sprain my ankle on a waterbed.

Kittens move around too much, unless you meant dead kittens, or kittens super-glued to the floor. I'll look into that.
