The Way Too Early Dids B-Day in AC on 8/12 Thread.

I am a crazy overplanner so I made this thread now. That is just how I get down.

I will be in AC from 8/11-8/14 for my birthday, which falls on 8/12. There are no holidays in August, so you should make that day one for you, eventually the trend will catch on and then you can say "Yeah, I was celebrating Dids Day when nobody else was".

Lotsa 2+2ers (or #twoplustwoers I guess) will be there. You should too.

Yes. Book it in advance, call the poker room this week. Last summer things got a bit tight, but now that numerous new rooms are opening it should be much easier to get a poker rate at the last minute in many casinos.

Well, the #twoplustwo are the folks on IRC. Many of whom post pretty infrequently on the boards, which is why I made this distinction. Probably the largest different is that some of them are younger than the average 2+2er you'll find in Vegas.

In terms of social stuff, I'm not really sure. This is my second time being west of like Idaho in my adult life, so I have very little idea of what to do in AC beyond gambool. I'm very open to suggestions. My plan was to spend a ton of time at the tables, and probably some kind of dinner/outing on the 12th.

The biggest thing I still need is somebody who can get the poker rate and is willing to split/share a room. (I have no idea how big the rooms at the Borg are or how many people they'll let cram into one, but I'd like to spend as little as I can on lodging).

So because this is how I am, I fly in late Thursday night. I have a room booked at the Trop that day, if anybody else will be there. I now need to figure out lodging for Friday night, but I figure somebody will have a room I can pass out in, that's my b-day and you wouldn't turn away somebody needing a room on their b-day (I'd actually be totally willing to split costs).

I think I'm good for Saturday.

Right now my plan is to spend Sunday night in AC and then hop a bus to New York, but if I can score a ride and a place to stay Sunday night in New York, then I might do that. Otherwise hopefully I can get a poker rate room at the Borg or it'll be back to the Trop (getting a room on a Sunday in AC on no notice shouldn't be hard, right).

I don't know if I'm planning on playing in New York, but I'd at least like to meet any willing 2+2ers who don't make it to AC.

Count me in...in about 5 years!

bump. i stopped off for about 5 hours during my trek from NC to CT. made it back intact.. Unfortunately, didn't have much time to mess around and play as much as I had originally intended.

Showed up at about 1:30am and found dids at a 6/12. Eventually met up w/ a few of the dudes, none of whom were in my 6/12--which was very passive and soft.. In my first orbit, I managed to snag QQ, JJ, AA back2back2back, and then qq a few hands later to start off with a little cushion. I didn't play well -at all- but managed to score $260 in about 3 hours.

Then dids/daryn/kipin/act/me/crap i forgot went to grab a bite at that metro restaurant where daryn described what transpired during his semi-drunken 6/12 session one table over from me (w/ dids). I'm sure he'll eventually post it here or in another thread on B&M.. To summarize, he basically served one of the floormen who either had a terrible sense of humor or the most unprofessional attitude possible--more likely both, tho.

Wish I coulda hung out longer but lack of room arrangements on my part, as well as a desire to finish my awful drive home, prevented me from doing so.

If this happens again next year, count me in.. for more than 4 hours.

I had the privilege of witnessing this. Probably one of the funniest things I have seen at a casino. It definitely seemed like friendly banter at first, but then I think each of them crossed the line in the other's opinion. Floorman definitely didn't handle it well though, daryn was the man.

My only regret on the night is that Dids didn't 3-bet me pre-flop even once, as I was directly to his right. I guess I played too tight... /images/graemlins/confused.gif

Daryn was not kicked out or anything, but what at first seemeed like friendly banter leading into a little football trash talking (nothing wrong with that) somehow lead to the floor man saying daryn blows or some equivalent (after determining that he was neither an eagles or giants fan) into daryn offering the floor a $100 tip to shut-up essentially.

When the floor responded that Daryn could not produce a single hundred dollar bill, Daryn produced a fairly moderately large wad and started fanning hundreds at the floor man and called him an $8/hr upgrade from mall security. I think the floor realized that he was loosing this battle of wits and pulled his trump card and asked Daryn to take a walk for a little private conversation. I can't give specifics on what was involved there, but they managed to smooth something over. Just to make it clear, this never turned into a nasty yelling match or anything, it appeared that the floor guy was just using that cool dry sarcastic tone at first, but then as it went on it became apparent he was reallly annoyed.

If you don't recognize me, you are bad at recognizing people. A- I'm the big fat blonde guy B- I'm the guy that was playing social chair most of the night.

I will post big trip report later, my brief though is that A- 6/12 AC poker is boring and I miss the internet B- The Borg rules C- after spending a week in AC and New York I want to spend 2 days without seeing another person.
