How should play vary from the usual Stars strategy when playing in a turbo? Since the blinds increase faster, should you play more like on Party?

Yes but not entirely like party. You have to develop a hybrid strategy. You still have plenty of time to play extremely tight in the early levels because of the added chips.

Agreed. Stars also allows you to make a play or two without crippling yourself if things don't work out. A failed steal on Party can mean real trouble, whereas you have more room for error on Stars.

Notice the slower rate of escalating blinds on Stars vs. Party (50/100 vs. 50/100, 75/150 vs. 100/200, 100/200 vs. 150/300, 100/200 ante vs. 200/400). That should turn a few pushes (not a lot, but a few) into folds b/c you don't get blinded down quite as fast on these levels.

Another reason some pushes might become folds is your fold equity decreases (in theory). Say you have 1,000 chips and the blinds are 50/100 and there's 4 players left. Well there's 12,500 chips amongst the other 3 players so they all have you covered by a good bit or there's one monster chipleader that won't even take a dent to his stack trying to pick you off.

I have been playing a lot of Stars Turbos this past weekend, working on clearing my bonus. The biggest difference between Stars and Party is that you're gonna have to play post flop poker. Like Bradley said, more chips in the game equals less FE.

Sort of, but deeper stacks don't change the pot odds, which people often rely upon in making calls.

I have noticed some otherwise seemingly good players there with bad understanding of the values of certain hands as calling hands of pushes. My guess it's just that you see less aggro pushing than on Party, so some players haven't learned how to "shoot all-in free throws" very well yet (or don't like that style of game so they haven't spent the time learning it like they should).

my experience at Stars, on lower levels, is that on the 100/200 especially (which lasts for 10 minutes on a turbo) a 3-5X PF raise is all you need with 10-12X BB on most tables.

After that it kicks to 200/400, so then you gotta start playing the 10X BB pushing rule more applicable and akin to party.
