Hey all,

Not trying to pimp Stars for any reason other than this seems like a pretty great deal.

Stars is running a 20% deposit bonus until May 10th, and unlike Party, you can earn the bonus playing SnGs. The math will show you why the $15+1 Turbos (which last about the same as a regular Party 1-table) are the way to go.

-You deposit $600, and are eligible $120 in bonus cash.
-To get the cash, you must earn 600 Frequent Player Points
-You earn 5 FPPs for every dollar in SnG vigourish - you thus would need to play 120 SnGs to cash out.

120 SnGs x $16 = $1920 investment.
$1920 x 30% ROI = $576
$576 + $120 = $696 - this would bring your ROI for these tournaments up to 36%. I could be wrong, but a 5% increase in ROI seems pretty significant.

And for what it's worth, the games don't seem much tougher than Party.

Just my two cents.

Sam

It was a few days ago, but now there's only 2 days left... I cleared a $20 on a $100 really fast though (2 days), there's still plenty of time to do something like that, but getting 120 would require 8 tabling for a while... But maybe I just suck...

You don't have to clear the bonus before the 10th, just make a deposit. After that IIRC you have as long as you'd like to earnt he needed FFPs and clear it.

You dont have to complete the Pokerstars Bonus in a set amount of time - it can be a few months....so long as you dont cash out until you get the bonus.

you can't use PV on pokerstars and that makes me sad

The problem for me is that I'd have to learn how to play a different structure.

Not hard, successful transition here. (Clearing 100% FT bonus)
The 50% FT reload looks nice to if your just playing the 11s, I'll let you know how the 20s are soon.

My mistake. I just play on Pokerstars (mainly for fun). I'm not a bonus whore, don't make many deposits. Maybe next time I should pay attention, and take advantage of the bonus... Too bad they usually only do it 2 or 3 times a year

1500. More skill IMO, but longer and harder to multi-table

More post-flop play, to be sure, but if you play the turbos, they don't usually go over 45-50 minutes.

In later rounds they also have antes, which increases the rewards for aggressive bubble play considerably - you can easily steal your way from "average" to chip leader in two orbits.

I agree. I played a few 25+2 turbos, and not really being very experienced with it, I played them much like a Party game (i.e., very tight). While I fell way behind, once the bubble came around, a foldfest ensued and I was able to get right back in it.

You can cash out after 48 hours from the time you deposited. I deposited $600 to get the full bonus, and will probably cash out about $400 soon, depending on other whoring opportunities. I'll leave a few hundred in there to play with when I am not clearing other bonuses. I have done this on previous PS bonuses with no problem.

I recently had the past 3 stars bonuses ($120/$150/$120) built up but had cashed out after each deposit. Then I took a week and decided to clear em all.

really? interesting...

So how would it work if i were deposit, say, $200 today (while the bous is still available) and then withdraw it, and try to clear it in a few weeks, when i am more liquid? can i do that?

Absolutely. Just leave the money there for 48 hours before withdrawing it.

Although if it were me, I would try and scrouge up as close to the full $600 to max the bonus (however, I know how tough that can be sometimes).

I've been doing this now.
I've had a couple of instances where I haven't paid enough attention to the difference in situation between Party and Stars.
You frequently get to the bubble while the blinds are still fairly small (at least in the 15+1 you do). I've been playing the Stars turbos at the same time as party sngs. Just a few minutes ago on a turbo, I just pushed all-in four-handed on the button with 88. Fairly normal Party-type play...except that all-in was 25 times the BB here. Whoops.

LOL I did something like that once. Served me right for multi-tabling.

the teacher in me can't resist.

ok children, what's the first thing we look at each hand in an sng?

"Starting hand" says Sally. "no"

"position" says Billy. "no"

"reletive stack sizes of all players in relation to the blinds" bingo, jimmy get the sucker.

the cards are far less important than the chips
