Ocean's 11 in SD 8/16. Just came in from the must move, no reads. I'm SB with JJ. UTG raises, MP reraises. All fold I call (?). UTG calls. Flop is all low. I check (?), check, bet, call, call. Turn small, I check, check, bet, call, call. River is a K. I check, bet, raise, fold, fold.

I was still getting my chips organized and blamed it on that, but in retrospect this isn't that uncommon of a line for me, and everytime I do it, I hate it. Flame...

Check-raise the flop.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this is the kind of line that bad players frequently take with a medium sized pair, and its because they are afraid.

They are afraid to make a decision and committ to playing the hand like its the best one out there. I would c/r this flop 100% of the time and lead any turn card. If I get raised, I'd have to re-evaluate.

The important things you need to realize are that

1. Your hand is very vulnerable, and getting people to fold is good.

2. You need to make a decision and not just call cuz you don't know what else to do. people that play like that regularly are called "fish".

I hope i'm not sounding like a jerk, i'm in a sassy mood today. gl at the tables.

No offense taken. I'm 2 years well into the black at that level, but JJ out of the SB is one of my biggest leaks. That I just got to the table and had 0 reads (new casino for me), I was lost. BTW, I already said how weak it was, no real need for the fish comment. We all have leaks...

Hi lf,

Assuming your re-evaluation is referring to a raise on the turn, if you checkraised the flop and were 3-bet, would you cap and lead the turn?

Probably. At the very least the flop cap and turn lead might induce AA or KK to check behind on the river, should you decide not to bet. If you get raised on the turn it really depends on your reads. As Hero had no reads, I think you need to get this hand to showdown, to gain information if for no other reason.

The comment was meant to imply anything or to be insulting. It was simply meant to bring to your attention that this hand was played exactly how you would want an opponent to play it. Thats bad. The reason for them is that they are bad, the reason for you in this hand was you were confused, and failed to make a decision. The unfortunate thing, however, is that the reason doesn't matter, just the bets that go in the pot.

I was just making sure you saw the relation.
