I have a wireless router and a laptop with a wireless card. It's worked fine for months. Today, it won't work. I haven't changed anything.

My network isn't listed in the wireless network connection window. When I click 'refresh network list' my neighbor's network shows up, but not mine.

I can still connect just fine if I plug into the router.

Anyone know why this might happen, and how I can fix it?

This happened to mine a few weeks ago. It's like the card just switched off. I've now got it plugged to the router, works fine. Wouldn't mind hearing solutions on how to fix the problem though.

As your laptop can see other wireless networks, I'd assume that it's a problem with your router rather than the network card in your laptop.

The wireless part of my router sometimes stops working, and a simple restart usually does the trick. Unplug it, leave it for a couple of mins, then plug it back in.

If that doesn't work I'd try a complete reset of the router, restoring it to its original factory settings. If you do this, remember to take a note of any settings that you might have to restore once the router is reset.

You may also want to check if there are any firmware upgrades for the router.

Problem may also be due radio interference from other devices, but I'd try the above first to see if that works.

Hope that helps.

That did it. And that's always the first thing I try when I have any kind of network problem. I can't believe I didn't think to do it this time.

Thanks!
