Grabbed a bunch of music from a friend, newly discovered my obsession with acid jazz and trip hop music. I mean I always liked Daft Punk but this is just worlds above. I currently have a few songs from The Herbaliser, Amon Tobin, Telepopmusik and the DJ Food and DK CD. This stuff is incredible. I'm looking for more.

I went ahead and ordered The Herbal Blend, Cold Krush Cuts and FunkungFusion per the recommendation of some of the amazon reviewers and other friends.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? This stuff is incredible.

Acid Jazz != Trip Hop.

That being said, if you like trip hop, you definitely need to make sure you've got Portishead and Massive Attack in your collection.

Ah, didn't realize it meant the same thing, yeah the only massive attack song I have is dissolved girl. Which one of their CDs would you recommend?

Mezzanine is by far their best.

Got any streaming examples? I'm interested in finding out what exactly falls under Acid Jazz & Trip-Hop.

You can go to amazon.com and listen to samples, listen to anything from the ninja tune label. I started with Herbaliser.

not sure if they'd necessarily be considered acid jazz ... but I really liked their track "Cantaloop"

AZK, they're not the same. Flux, as a programmer, forgets not everyone knows that != is 'not equals'.

Check out Hooverphonic also.

Wait so Acid jazz != trip hop means Acid jazz is not trip hop?

Yeah, I have one song by him. Bath Music. Pretty solid. Any specific CDs you recommend?

Yeah. Sorry that was my fault. I do forget not everyone writes Perl and wears penguin t-shirts.

Acid Jazz is not the same thing as trip-hop.

I don't know if it would count as trip-hop per se, but I really like Prefuse 73's instrumentals. "Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives" and "Extinguished" are both really good.

Hey. Sorry to dig this thread up but I'm enjoying the 2 Herbaliser songs that I have. I'm trying to download more but Soulseek is down right now. Could I get some more Acid Jazz / Trip-hop music off someone on AIM or something? my aim is "oo pk pk oo" or feel free to PM me if you have another means to transfer. Thanks a lot

If you like Trip Hop then you absolutely need "Mad Blunted Jazz" by DJ Cam. Get this 1st or your trip hop collection will not be complete.

Look also for DJ Krush. I like his earlier stuff, and theres an album with some japanese trumpet player that is really good.

Greyboy is great too, check out "Freestylin", "Land of the Lost", "Grey Breaks". His best song ever though, is called Unwind Your Mind, and its on a compilation called "Home Cookin" (which I also recommend).

Kruder and Dorfmeister "G-Stoned" is another classic.

Fort Knox Five is another group that you might like, however if you dont have a record player Id check into downloading their stuff as Im not sure its widely available on CD.

Blue lines is without a doubt Massive Attacks greatest work, it's timeless & classic soul music.

I also like Tricky's first album. You can't go wrong with Kruder & Dorfmeister, the K&D sessions is probably a good place to start. Everything Four Tet has done is excellent, but it is a mish-mash of trip-hop, jazz, folk etc.

Thanks for all the recommendations, I'll check them out. I am obsessed with DJ Food an DK the solid steel album, I got funkungfusion, herbal blend, and cold krush cuts, but I'm less than impressed with all of these albums unfortunately.

DJ Food/DK is just soooooo chill

Haven't read the other replies so these may be duplicates

Theivery Corporation - Mirror Conspiracy is one of my top 5 all time albums and Richest Man in Babylon is almost as good.

Zero 7 - Simple things is really good. His other stuff left me kind of meh.

Oh yeah, Kruder and Dorfmeister are tight too.

Great CD's, not every day music for me, but good when I want to chill. I have 1-4 has he put out any more?
