When I played it I thought it was WA/WB, but now I realize I'm probably WB much more ofthen than I am WA

Villain is 20/5

In the heat of it I didn't look at pot size, but now I think I can safely fold, I don't think i'm good 1/8 times against this villain

I didn't want to raise the flop to keep the other players in the pot to pad - is this thinking wrong?

really? it is HU and we either get 3-bet or a possible fold. why not just call, if it is a pair of 9s, let them keep betting into us. but then the 3rd 9 comes, stick a fork in us, we're done /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I Raise the flop. That way if he has a 9 and is getting aggressive with it he’ll fold and you’ll win the pot right there. If not, you’ll know by a reraise if you’re beaten or by a call you can probably get a free river if you want for a cheap showdown. If villain bets the turn when a blank hits then you’re probably beaten also.

The problem with keeping others in is that it is unlikely to work. That is a very intimidating board. It is unlikely that anybody is going to donate anything else to the pot. The cost of not protecting the pot is greater than the possibility of extra callers.

If I get three bet on the flop, would I still call the turn?

I don't think I can fold this flop at all...

And you can't fold this flop.

Folding the flop is so unbelievably weak it makes me sick.

There's a very very good chance we have the best hand. Maybe if we keep having bullets fired at us we can slow down, but JJ, AQ, tones of hands could be a possibility.

I guess the river fold is standard then

What if we say hero raises and gets 3-bet, what should hero do, fold to the 3-bet assuming the trips or simply call down the rest of the way?

I think the pot is big enough to warrent raising to protect your hand. Anyone with a gutshot is getting correct odds to call.

I call down if 3-bet. If the river card was the same 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif and he bets, I cry and fold.
