In my account I play with whats there, but I prefer having 70 buyins in my br for sngs.

I dont want to worry about 10 buyin swings... sometimes on the bubble you are just not hitting your coinflips.

I play $22s. I had played it up to 65 buyins in one account but I cashed out $800 to Neteller there yesterday. In my other playing account I have ~40 buyins.

As long as i can take a 20 buyin drop without reloading, I'm fine. If I do have such a drop I probably need a few minutes to regroup anyway.

I keep 50 to 100 buyins in my account. I had a one of those 'mother of all bad runs' a few months ago and I think not worrying about a shrinking bankroll helps (even if it's only subconscious)

So 200-300 buy-ins? That seems excessive, even for the higher level SNGs. I keep around 100 buy-ins, and I think mine is on the high side. Anything more than that could be better invested somewhere else and used as a reload if necessary.

Exactly 1,000,000 dollars. I make a small cashout or deposit with Neteller every time I finish a set to keep it there.

Seriously, I kepp 30 buy ins at the site, cash out the extra to Neteller and 50 buy ins at Neteller. The surplus of those 80 buy ins (110 now that I'm 8 tabling) is cashed out.

BradleyT

Yes, 200-300. That's between neteller and the sites.

i play $50-200 and keep from 5 to 200 buyins in my accounts

i honestly don't worry much about how much is in my account because it's easy so easy to reload. my total online bankroll is plenty big to take any swings.

Do you consider neteller a safe place to keep money? I'm just a bit worried since the password isn't needed to retrieve money from there, and they sent me the 6-digit code in an email.

Maulik

I'm sure you already know this since you post on here a lot, but

30 is the bare minimum
50 is good
100 is absolute max, not necessary for the 20s or 30s IMO.

I had about 120 in Party, but I've recently switched to Empire w/ rakeback and only have 21, but I can deposit if need be.
I play $11s BTW.

With Neteller included I have closer to 500 buyins. But that is more indicative of me being lazy in bringing home money from Neteller than me having a need to have that money for my pokerplaying.

What does that mean exactly? I keep all my comp stuff and my poker site passwords well secret and change them. I have different passwords for every site, and neteller. I have one copy of them on paper, just in case I get my gmail/party/empire/neteller/school/ whatever thing mixed up. Obviously I'm not going to fall for a Neteller "We need to know your SSN, email, adress, DOB, mothers SSN, fathers SSN, bank account... etc" fake email.

Use a good firewall, antivirus and password protection program.

Furthermore I use Processguard, which is low level protection that prevents processes from running/killing other processes without me knowing.

Apart from that of I mean don't view e-mail attatchements, open files you don't know where they come from etc. Just basic common sense.

In accounts that I might occasionally play ring games in, a vast number of what would be buy-ins for the little SNG 11's I play. For accounts in which I'm only playing SNG's, 50 or so buy-ins.

I have an updated thing of Norton, for antivirus. Any suggestions for what an optimal setup is? I don't mind paying for it. I'm pretty good with compures just not up on this.

For firewalls, there are tonnes. I personally use Kerio which I like but it is slightly more messy to setup than for example ZoneAlarm which does the job pretty fine I think.

No idea if XPs firewall is good or not.

I try to keep 20 on the site and a minimum of 50 total in my BR. If I drop to 30 total, I move down.

$5.50

If I've emptied the account, I'll reload w/10 to 15 buy-ins. Most of the time--but not always--I can build from here. I deposited ~$60 11 days ago, and with moderate play I'm at ~$160. I'd like to get to ~$300 and try the $10 + $1's, but I always seem to be needing to make a withdrawal.

TheCat

Let me see... 150 x 215 = 32250, that is a shed load of greenbacks you should buy some bonds or equites instead of letting your money rot in a Party Pokers account.

I have a simple but cunning ploy.
When my bankroll hits ten times a particular buy in I then move up to that limit. When it falls to ten times the next lower buyin I move down.
For example My stack is 340 dollars, I play 30+3 until I hit 500 dollars. Then I play 50+5 until I fall back down to 300 or up to 1000. Works a treat but I never got past the 50+5 or below the 20+2. There is still hope, my hobby dosen't cost me anything which is better than golf.

I 4 table 20s with a ~200 buyin bankroll, keep around ~20-30 buyins in my account.

There is something to be said for 4 tableing 20's. I would probably make a lot of money doing that, maybe it's my ultimate home. However, I wouldn't be happy taking money from bad players. I want to take money from good or at least average players.

2 table the $10's with minimum 50 buyin rule.

I need to play about 80 more $10 SnG's to clear my $75 Poker Room bonus and $150 Poker Stars bonus, then I'm moving up to the 20's. My bankroll is ready for the $20's now, but I want to make sure that my game is ready before moving up.

I've never withdrawn any money from my online winnings and I'm only playing online with profit so it's free entertainment. Hell I make a lot more money with poker than I would if I took out that $1200 out and invested it in stocks, bonds or a saving account.

FieryJustice
05-07-2005, 05:38 PM
I did not miss the point. I understand that I probably use 6K of it at most but when you have a 10K downswing, what do you do then if you only have 10K online? I dont want to have to go through the hassle of getting another 10K out of wherever i would put it just so I can keep on playing.

dfscott
05-07-2005, 05:59 PM
If I had a 10K downswing, I think a few days off while I wait for funds might not be a bad idea.

i usually keep 60 buy-ins in each account (8-tabling, so two Party skins) with a variable amount of money in neteller depending on what my expenses for the month ended up being...

i drop down a level if my bankroll suffers a 30 buy-in loss (total-- across both accounts).

i am a full-time SNGer, and don't have any way to replenish a busted bankroll, so i have to be careful as i definitely feel some pressure when i'm running bad.

i have a ploy of my own and it seems to keep my ROI hovering around 0%, here's how it works:

play well until your ROI is 50% then step up to tables that you're unqualified to play and get tilty with it....works every time
