Just completed my first day as a Bally's poker dealer...and I'm encourged of what I saw. Bally's poker room does not attempt to cater to the mid/high limit players. It's a low limit room looking to cater to the low rollers, looking for a well-runned poker room without any frills. But they are doing a couple of things to distinguish themselves from other poker rooms...mainly in the tournament field. Starting last week, they began to run tournaments from Tuesday-thursday, but it's not the typical NL Tournmanents: Check these out:

Tues (10AM) No Limit Pineapple ($55 buy in -- 1000 chips)
Weds (10AM) No Limit Crazy Pineapple ($55 Buy In -- 1000 Chips)
Thursday (11AM) No Limit Shootout ($77 buy in -- 1000 Chips)

Without advertising yet, they were able to get 3 tables for these tournaments, that's very encourging...so if you need a break from NL Hold Em...come over to Bally's and try some of our unique poker tournaments..

I know I'm shilling for Ballys Poker Room, but since I'm an employee, I guess I have too /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Had you dealt before?

I've been wondering if a more "service-oriented" or at least more physically active career wouldn't suit me. Do dealers or floors make better money? And what's the career path?

Maybe I should ask all this on the Psychology forum; they seem to specialize in career issues.

Can you tell me how much dealer school was and which one you went to? My girlfriend might be interested in becoming a dealer....thanks!

I went to the Casino Gaming SChool. The Course was 799 bucks for 5 weeks. There's more information on their website: www.learn2deal.com (http://www.learn2deal.com)

Well, since I will be in Vegas next week I will look you up and play a few hands next week. When do you work next week and look like?

In Pineapple you discard before the flop, in crazy pinapple you discard after the flop betting.

OMG.

I hope that included BJ, Craps, and Roulette.

I paid less than half that 5 years ago, at Aces Full Dealers Academy on Sahara, to learn poker.

That is ok; I paid the same amount as you did at the school he went to. HTe market place has changed for poker dealers. Also when I went there Dan Paymar was the instructor. I don't know thier curretn poker instructor but it is still a bargain compared to the schools in LA.
