Hand 1 - raiser is a tight player, relatively quiet. Preflop I thought I could move him off an over pair with a favorable flop. I wanted to test him on the turn for AK - damn the river. Should I have made an earlier move?

Hand 2 - raiser is loose and overly aggressive. I thought I would bludgeon him into submission - damn the river, but it obviously didn't help. Thoughts?

Preflop: Hero is Button with 3, 3.
2 folds, CO raises, Hero calls, 2 folds.

3 bet or fold PF, I really don't like calling here. 3 betting would be a schnieds or BK move, not something a weak tight pussy like me would do /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Flop: (5.66 SB) 2, J, T (2 players)
CO bets, Hero calls.

Again, had you raised PF you could take the initiative here. As it stands you don't really know where you are at and you could be drawing dead. If you raise PF, the action could go either Flop: check, bet, call Turn: Check, Check RIv: bet, call or same flop, Turn check, bet, raise, fold

It sounds to me like you are thinking like a NL player.

I like hand 2 but I would consider checking against a crazy to induce the bluff, if he raises the K you puke.

Peace and gl,

Joe

I think hand 1 could justify a preflop raise - but, the player is tight. His raise means something, but he is also predictable. I've had more luck w/ small PP's not 3 betting and playing more aggressively post flop. It seems to me, that in a lot of cases, people just don't respect a preflop 3bet, especially heads up. And if they get a piece, any piece of the flop, they call you down.
