View Full Version : Where to take a shot at 30/60 or 50/100?

Since last November, I have worked my way up from 5/10 short to 15/30 full on Party. I have pretty good results at all levels. I prefer to play shorthanded but I'll play full as well.

I was considering taking a shot at 30/60 or 50/100 limit holdem. I'm willing to risk about $4000 on this venture. Where can I find the most donks playing these limits on the internet? Right now I am leaning towards UltimateBet or Prima.

I realize the higher stakes players who play these games may be reluctant to give out this info, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

You probably will have the best luck just scouting the game for yourself since each will be different. Nobody around here can or will point you to a mecca for high stakes fish.

I don't know where the games are softer, but I think that if you want to play for 4k you should play 30-60, and then try 50-100 if you do well and get about double that or more.

You should not play these high stakes until you have the bankroll.

You could lose $4K in a couple of sessions at these levels. Wait until you have $15K-$20K then take a shot.

To test out the waters with a set amount is not a bad idea. I believe he is prepared to loose the 4K.

at 50/100 there is no question you can lose that in 500 hands. play 30/60 with that instead.

This is lame advice. If he's ok with losing 4k, go for it and don't look back.

poster says he does have a healthy bankroll for his current game and just wants to test the wters. if he's willing to lose 4k and realize the risks behind it, thats perfectly fine. he's not playing with his whole roll here. if he loses he's not going to go back to .50/1.00

I am willing to put 4K into play. If I lose I still have plenty of bankroll for the Party 15/30 game. I was inspired by bicyclekick's long post to try this.

Thanks for the responses anyway - I will definitely start at 30/60. I think I will scout the games on Ultimate, Prima, and Pacific.

30/60 on party is pretty good, and interpoker has some godawful big time fish.

How much harder is 50-100 6-max at various sites (interpoker, pokerstars, UB) in comparison to Party's 10-20?

Significantly. But the games are still good.

the 50/100 6max game now is wayyyyyy harder than 10/206max on party. The typical line-up these days is something like this:

2+2er, 2+2er, solid player that is overaggro, solid player that is overaggro, 30/12/1.5, 35/8/1. Of course you sometimes get bad players...but these days the table vpip is something like 28 and that's pretty close to optimum strategy I think.

4k can go so fast at 50/100. 40bb...think about other aggressive games you've played and how quickly it can go.

30/60 is a GREAT stepping stone.

Stick to the 30 game if you ask me.

you're right bicycle. If I run bad at 30/60 at least i'll get some entertainment value for my money. at 50/100 $4,000 could go in a flash.

so you've made it quite clear you have a stop-loss of $4,000 - but do you have a stop win?

what do you plan on doing if you make a quick 10k the first couple nights, but recognize that the game was just semi-beatable, far from easy, and you were just running well?
