I've been wanting to take a poker vacation for a while.
So, you're 18 and you want to spend a couple weeks playing B&M. Any ideas on where to go? I considered Aruba at first, but from what I hear the card rooms there aren't even open 24/7. So far the two places that are looking best are the Morongo in CA, and River Rock in Vancouver. The Morongo has the disadvantage of having the U.S. age limits on alcohol (and consent /images/graemlins/wink.gif), but I also think it would be a lot cheaper than the River Rock. Any information about either of these poker rooms is appreciated since their websites are extremely vague. Also looking for any information on surrounding attractions. I wouldn't mind having the option to do a little something other than poker while I'm there. About poker though, I'd like to play 4/8-10/20 limit hold'em, maybe some 2/5 no limit, and a bit of low limit stud and omaha just to learn the games. How much money would you bring for 2 weeks worth of poker? How much money would you bring for expenses? All info/suggestions/bbqpizza appreciated.

Morongo has good action, but I don't think it would be worth it to take a whole vacation for that piddly little poker room (especially when there are 2hour+ waits on weekends). Theres a few other 18+ casinos in the area, Barona down in San Diego, which has 3/6-6/12 and I think 100 and 200 NL, and there are also other casinos right around marongo, also in Cabazon you could check out. there isnt much around morongo itself, its in the desert, unless you wanna go hang out with old people in palm springs. To really make a poker trip to CA worthwhile, I think you gotta be 21, or at least appear to be 21, as the L.A. casinos in my experiences are pretty lax on checking ID. If you can do this, then you have Commerce, hustler, hollywood park, normandie and the bike to also go to, and the trip will be worthwhile, all are within 2 hours from morongo. so.. get a fake ID if you can! good luck

Is it worth planning a 2 week vacation around the chance that I probably won't get carded? If the chance is really that low, maybe Vegas is feasible?

its iffy, but it really depends on how you look. LA is a lot more lax about carding then vegas, i wouldnt take the chance over in vegas.... personally Ive played most of the LA casinos since I was 20, and never got carded...out of all my friends, only one has got carded, and she acts like a 5 year old sometimes, the thing about CA is, if for some reason you did get carded, you still would have the other indian casinos to fall back on... another thing is its fairly easy to get a fake ID in MacArthur park, which is in downtown LA... and thats always a last resort option... also, if you really end up coming down here, PM me when you do and if u want we could meet up and go to commerce together, I think the security recognize my face and would even be less likely to card, but wherever you choose, good luck!
