Messy_Jesse

Maybe I'm just a little dissapointed I lost this one, but I wanted to know everyone's thoughts on the end of this $55 SNG. Was I too aggressive or was this just a case of losing coinflips? Thanks in advance.

Seems fine to me, although I would have raised allin with the J8s, since you can't fold to a reraise, and you don't want to encourage these guys.

Also the T8o is read dependant, and I would usually fold based on the previous action. The guy is so short and has been pushed around so much, that it's around the time to backoff, as your fold equity should be much lower than expected.

I don't like how you showed those Ax hands

Yeah I don't do that crap. Some people are dumb enough not to realize to push there and actually call preflop or check from the BB. I might show with hands like AA-99 however, and bigger aces. That really depends on my mood though.

I think in general youd just be better not showing anything, people arent (that..) stupid and when the only hand you show them is some big ace etc. then they assume you are showing them becuase you are stealing usually, just don't show.

If super-aggressive is your style then I can't critique your play here. To me, your raises are too big - I prefer grinding someone out to going all-in so often. It seems you are inviting a great deal of chip swing if he happens to get a good calling hand (which he did).

I think people are stupid /images/graemlins/smile.gif I don't show very often, but sometimes you feel like you are playing an overly tight and unsophisticated opponent, and if I think showing a big hand will make them fold more, I do.

His raises are the correct sizes. When the blinds are huge, you should expect large swings headsup. You cant be putting in 1/3 of your stack to raise with something like J9s and then folding to an allin. Doing so wil get you killed headsup.

no offense, this thread is a good example of aggressive HU play, but does anyone want to post a HU match that had frequent difficult decisions (most likely involving flops, pf reraises)? I think this could benefit everyone, its just that most of the plays in this example were fairly straight forward. I would post one of mine, but I just finished for the night and cant think of any good ones off the top of my head

Well, there weren't any real coinflips. You were at least moderately behind every time you both put you money in, except the final hand.
That said, there was nothing wrong with your play except the showing. I don't know what you were trying to accomplish with that - they weren't huge hands that would encourage villain to fold, and they weren't super weak holdings that would encourage calls either....
