View Full Version : Poker Listings Screwed Me

So I went to sign up for Multi Poker and get the 100 dollar bonus, but when I looked for the bonus code Poker Listings.com showed up with a 150 dollar bonus instead of a 100 dollar bonus on a 500 dollar deposit. So i clicked their link and deposited five hundred dollars. The freaking hand requirement is 2250 in 30 days. [censored] that.

It's "free" money, don't complain.

No, but I could have gotten 100 dollars now I get zero because I'm not going to do that one. Additionally, I have to wait all night to get my money that took a second to go there, to come back. So I lose a night of poker. It's pretty bull [censored] on a site I like's part.

2250 isn't that hard... really

Just 4-table (hopefully you have the funds) of 1/2 and play for a few nights and you should be fine.

A 15x bonus isn't great, but if you are a winning player, then you have plenty of time to put in your 2250 hands on a soft site. Your choice, but I'd do it.

I did the same thing, and had that same problem. I was mildly upset, but I still cleared the bonus anyways, and turned a pretty good profit. You might as well do it, the games are easy enough.

Yeah, I made the same mistake. It sucks. 15x at 3/6 is hardly better than rakeback.

Ijust started whoring and there are so many good and more profitable bonuses out there. I don't want to waste 13 hours playing that one. It'll just be $100 that I missed

I don't like pokerlistings at all. their signup "bonuses" are particularly bad for the following sites:
- Multipoker
- Royal Vegas
- Interpoker
- Pokerroom

half of the sites on their "top 50" list are straight up crapolas that nobody actually plays at, much less deserve any type of rating.

I am surprised at your lack of patience with this. If you are just starting to bonus whore or play poker then i think you might have alot to learn. Throwing away 150 because it will take longer than planned sounds kinda ridiculous to me. I usually play 2500 hands a weekend some times in one day and i 4 table on one monitor to do it. The other bonuses will be there when you finish so whats the rush. Poker is all about patience, if you can't wait for good hands you won't profit from bonuses anyway and will just go broke. I am only saying this to help and nothing more. Good luck with youre choice, whatever it is. Jay /images/graemlins/wink.gif

damn...putting the guilt trip on me. Now I feel like I should play it out. I don't really have time for this. I'm in school. I honest to god may not finish it in time. I four table on one monitor also. Logicaly, I will probably clear if I do. However, there are so many bonuses that I don't feel like I'll run out.

Anyway, what are the rules on creating two account on one site. I haven't played any hands on this site. I signed up on a computer on my school's computer lab, and logged in once on my dorm comp. Aside from that...will they match up my address or name or what?

Never click on a pokerlistings link, because your relationship with that room will be forever tainted with the pokerlisting stink.

I saw a magazine ad for Pacific a while back for 100% bonus. I made a mental note of that and sometime later I logged in to my computer and Googled 'PACIFIC POKER' and clicked on one of the links that popped up. I followed the signup proceedure, and when I got to the part where one expects to enter a bonus code, I opened up my magazine to find it. But, I was too late - I had entered the Pacific Site thru a Pokerlistings portal, so I was 'automatically' 'awarded' the inferior pokerlistings bonus. Several emails to Pacific got me nowhere, and I imagine it is do to the fact they were obligated to pay pokerlistings for the 'referral'. (Pacific could care less about their customers, I wonder why they even run bonuses.)

My lack of care in this matter cost me $40. I am somewhat consoled by the fact that I got it back from the softness of the games.

This whole pokerlistings thing seems like a horrible deal for Pacific (or anyone else). As far as I can tell, pokerlistings catches people like me who are already looking for a particular site, and then 'delivers' them, for a price, to the place they were already going . . . what a scam, they provide no value for what they get.

And yes, I see the irony in me making that observation.

Man, if you 4 table, even the slowest site 4 tabling 6 max clears over 200 hands an hour. Put 1hr a night for 10 days, bonus cleared. Do you play 5hrs a week?

Even if you only do 200 raked hands (which I did in 2hrs 3 tabling at .50/1 at a SLOOOOOW site - 60 hands/hr total) a night (call it 90 minutes), in 10 days the bonus is cleared.

I am confused as to why the bonus' they have are so bad. They seem to be pretty nice, is it just the fact that it takes so long to clear? Or am I just that stupid?

Because the PL link makes it 15x hands from 5x hands for fifty dollars.

I did the same thing. I haven't played at multipoker since.

I'll hit them up for epassport and igmpay bonuses after awhile, though.

Poker Listings didnt do anything to screw me since I am too lazy to read the T+C when I signup at a new place. I screwed myself.

I'm not familiar with this site but I'm assuming it's just a typical affiliate site.

If they are affiliated with the site and get revenue from anyone who signs-up with the site through them then the review of that site will be positive regardless of how much the site actually sucks.

If they do not gain any revenue from a given site then the review of that site will be negative or non-existent.

'they advertise with us....so we recommend you play there' is essentially what they are saying.

That is true, most affiliate sites (esp for casinos) are banner laden no info crapfests.

I can sort of understand why this is though (to explain my comments, I am in the process of writing content for a casino portal and a poker portal.

(no links because I aint shilling it here, just trying to vent a little)

I am trying very hard to be unbiased in my reviews. This is partly a personal decision, because I like to think I have some integrity. Partly it's a business decision (we're looking for repeat customers which we won't get by lying).

But, when writing the reviews, it's always at the back of your head that "I gotta make this site sound good or no one will signup and they have a kick ass affiliate program". No one else in the business (with a few exceptions) gives a crap about what they are pimping, so why should I bother? get the suckers in, get them to click on a link get them out.

That said, another reason is that as soon as you start dealing with the affiliate managers, they want to buy your soul.

There's carrots like "you can have an extra 5% rev share AND CPA payments - if you rank us top 5"
"you can have the 'exclusive' bonus (more cash, same playthrough rate) - if you write a nice fluffy press release"

And then there's the sticks. The most blatant of which was
"Get rid of the forum or we'll close your account." (a casino - poker places are a bit more forum friendly)

It amazes me that poker listings' bonuses are worse than normal, they are arsebag con-artists. But, this is a dirty business, and short term greed is rewarded if you can live with ripping people off.

OK, I apologise for my rant - one answer is to use adaware or similar to eat your cookies. I think Firefox can be configured to not accept any cookies - that way once you naviate away from the page, you should be clean.

Another good idea is to try and find a source of recommendations with high standards. 2+2 forums are a good one.

How come whenever something doesn't go exactly as someone ASSUMES it should, they rush here and post "XXXXXXXX SCREWED ME!!!"

Poker listings didn't screw you. You didn't check the details before you deposited your money. I played this bonus months ago. The terms to clear the bonus are right on their MultiPoker review page under "Sign up bonus".

I actually just cleared this bonus last weekend. I did read the details, and I did know it was going to take a crapload of hands, but it IS free money. I played 3/6 so it wasn't that much better than rakeback but hey, it is still free money. If you are a microlimit player the bonus would be pretty damn nice. Plus, now I got an account in case they ever offer a reload.
