Online Pot-Limit and No-limit??????????

Why is it that all sites only allow you to buy-in between 20 and 100x the blind? I understand in the bigger blind games they don't want to attract colluders. However I think $25 and $50 max buy-in games game would be more fun if the blinds were .05-.10 and .10-.20. This would allow the buy-ins to range from 50 to 250x the blind. I believe this would be good for both good and bad players. Anyone else feel this way. The pot-limit home games I play in range from 80 to 400x (.25-.25 blinds and $20-$100 buys) the blind and we have a blast with the extra action.

I guess from a card room's point of view, they would rather to keep the buy in smaller, so the bad players will not go bust too quickly, and will keep the games going. And as long as there are games going, the casino is collecting rake and making money.

I think yct is right..they must know what they are doing.
I think the games kind of suck this way too. It is usually recommended that you can call a raise if it is less than 5% of your stack. Right now this will rarely happen in these games.

Yep, raise and get nothing or limp and get beat by a non-descript hand. Problem with the limits the way that they are is that it is difficult to make a raise that will help define the types of hands that you are playing against without having them simply fold. In many cases, players will call a wide range of hands up to a certain amount of money but fold everything once that threshold is overcome. This tends to take the skill and the gamble out of the game. I might make a play against a bad player if I could simply rebuy for twice the amount but I can't do that in the online environment so many of those plays fall by the wayside. Such is life I suppose. I still find the games reasonably profitable due to the enormous mistakes that get made even with the protectionary buy-ins in place.
