Any of you geeks ever consider a career in the actuarial field? I'm pretty sure some of you would like it.

Sincere question: what would I like about it?

"Sincere question: what would I like about it?"
-Tough question, considering that I know absolutely nothing about you. I'll answer assuming you have similar traits that I've observed from people on this board...

1. Candy is right; the money can be nice.
2. The type of problem solving skills you see on this board comes up frequently, both in work and in exams.
3. Just about everyone else is a geek, too... I literally have discussed limit problems at the water cooler.
4. Performance, not politics, determines your worth. If you can do your job well, and pass exams, you will clean up... Nothing anyone can do about it.

I've only been in the business for about 1.5 years, but when I was considering it, I found www.beanactuary.org (http://www.beanactuary.org) and www.soa.org (http://www.soa.org) to be helpful resources.

Here endeth my recruiting shtick.

Hi,

How long does it take to pass the exams?

If you pass the exams, what is a typical pay level?
