Two different AK hands, two different tables, same deal on the river though.

Hand 1: I've been running pretty hot at this table. There has been one hand where I raised a $1 river bet to $5 with what had been TP on the flop and lost to AA. Other than that, I have no reason to believe he is betting $1 planning on pushing to a raise. Doesn't mean he can't have a T though. Also comments on flop check.

Hand 2: Also been running pretty well here, raising a good number of hands. I've two bet preflop before. His turn check/raise leads me to believe he probably has an A and puts me on KK/QQ. The river sucks, but I still think I should have raised it, because him having clubs is unlikely (yes?), and if he does have trip aces, he will call a decent raise (say to $12). The best line might just be to three bet the flop? I checked behind on the turn because I figured he would definitely read me for QQ/KK and I could get a bet and possibly call of my raise. Then the third club fell and I froze up, because I am a fish.

Just curious... why didn't you bet the flop on the first hand? There's a straight draw possibility and a chance of letting someone catch up. I'm confused.

Second hand... I think I still like a bet on the turn. If he checkraises you again, then I might fold. His minraise preflop can mean anything (has he done this before? What did it mean. When I don't know, I assume it means a small or med pocket pair. I have also seen people do it with hands like KQs and weak aces.) You're only behind a set as far as I see and I don't think he checks to you with a set. He could have been semibluffing with a flush draw, which is all the more reason to bet the turn.

I'm curious how they turned out.

Didn't bet the flop because it's relativey drawless and I want 88/99/JJ/QQ/KK or any T or any turned pair to think they are good and call. There aren't really any hands with more than 5 outs to beat me, and the pot is small, and I have position, so I can get away from it if things get ugly.

Hand 2 I should bet the turn. Definitely a bad check behind.

RESULTS:

Hand 1: Villain has Q2s and I leave negligible money on the table. Probably would have called a river raise to maybe $4 or $5.

Hand 2: Villain has AJ and I leave a lot of money on the table. :-(

Hand 1 bet the flop. Hand 2 bet the turn. Nobody check/raises twice in these games. Once you called his check/raise on the flop it looks like he thinks his Ax might not be good and wants to play a small pot. Value bet it as if he has Ax here, IMO. If by some chance he check/raises you again, you can probably fold or call if it is another min-raise and fold UI on the river if he bets or check behind. But I would be VERY surprised to see another check/raise. If he had a set, I would expect him to bet the turn.
