Villian is pretty predictable, not much deception in him that I have seen.

i like to bet the flop on a flush draw. bet on turn is ok but u should bet on river. if raised on river then consider folding to a possible house. but the way you played, u should have called the river bet. but for the future , if your unsure and have great reads, make a small bet on river say 1/3 pot and fold to a raise.
