Hand vs. chipmovr on pokerstars. Plays LAG preflop but has been showing me some respect postflop. I know it's 5 handed but this seems like the sort of hand that is applicable to full games too, if you just move our positions at the table a few seats back.

Not three-betting the river really stinks.

Yah, thinking about it after the hand I decided opponent would have raised turn with AJ or a set. Does the flop/turn combo look okay

At the time I couldn't readily put him on a worse hand, but now i see I can't put him on a better hand so should 3 bet. He did 3 bet me preflop so a worse jack can't be that likely.

I could easily see him raising the river with AK-A9 expecting to paid off but very rarely be 3bet by another ace, or maybe getting a call from KK,QQ. If he's reasonable postflop he probably would fold to the 3bet anyways, but it is one I would definitely make as you are good the vast majority of the time here.

his preflop 3bet range is wider than you believe.

I don't like the turn gaybet. Are you folding to a raise? Seems like if you are ahead he probably only has 2-6 outs and will fold some of these hands that he would have bet had you checked. Also he will probably raise every time you are behind. He might also raise with some hands you are ahead of like diamonds since gaybets are usually interpeted as weak, and this is bad for you if your plan was bet/fold.

He interprets your hand as a weak ace plz plz plz plz threebet the river and get paid off by a big ace.

I think given that you are 5 handed and what this does to his 3 betting standards, it's a crime not to 3 bet this river.

Why can't you put him on a better hand out of curiosity? There are 3 ways he can have AA, 3 ways he can have AJ, 3 ways he can have 66 and 3 ways he could have 55. That's like 12 different hands that he might 3 bet you with preflop that are better than your 3 Js. This is one situation where hero is laying 2 bets to win 1 if hero reraises because I don't see how hero could fold to another reraise. Therefore hero better win that extra bet more than 2/3 of the time IMO. What combinations of J worse kicker would he 3 bet with preflop? As one poster stated he could have put you on Ace weaker kicker on the turn and went for the raise on the river but not sure why he would play it that way since he may not get in raise on the river if a diamond comes on the last card. I guess your hand was good though.
