View Full Version : Philly should quit harrassing Iverson

Allen Iverson is the best player in the NBA ever, and now he may have to leave Philly because the racist cops are putting hits out on his life.
When will people look past this guy's past and focus on what this league would be without this man's greatness.
It's time to create the Iverson Rules.

Don't you have something to go write about Randy Moss?

If you keep responding to Jerry/Claffey/whatever guy spouting vikings crap du jour, you'll soon overtake Jimbo. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Unlike Clark, I'm going to be nice and pretend that statement isn't moronic.

(a) Allen Iverson is delusional. Cops don't like him because he's a criminal who happens to make over $10M a year. It's not his income or celebrity which makes him a criminal - it's the drugs and weapons charges.

(b) If he leaves the 76ers, it'll be because he's a plague on the team and they get tired of his sorry act.

(c) Iverson is just about as great as Isaiah Rider - which is to say not much. Hey, at least Rider pretended to behave for a year on the Laker's pine and get a ring.

(d) Without Iverson the league would still market the superstar power of Shaq, Kobe, McGrady, et al. and remain phenomenally popular.

(e) Iverson's admitted disdain for practice renders him a disgrace any devoted basketball player or fan. The greatest players are those who work the hardest - not those who happen to be athletically gifted to the point they're so quick that they can't be guarded 1-on-1 and parlay that athleticism into 30 a game for mediocre teams. (And no - one trip to the Finals doesn't atone for the fact that Iverson's career record is below .500.)

(e) Sadly, Iverson will probably remain on the Sixers for the same reason he's been on the team the past three years - his contract, attitude and criminal record. The Sixers have admittedly tried to dump him with no success.

I'm not the troller, in case that's not clear.

BTW, Bill, did you know that after Iverson's last run in with the police, authorities considered charging him with uttering terrorist threats? Seems like we'll need a few working definitions of "terrorism."
