The episode of the Simpsons that I'm watching just reminded me of last Thursday morning when I was driving home and caught myself in a bit of a daze. Had to roll the windows down to make sure I got a good breeze going.

Yes, driving back from Toronto to Rochester NY at 10 after a night of clubbing. I was pulling into a gas station because I knew I was too tired to drive and fell asleep as I was approaching the gas station. Hit the curb and woke up right away but I was DAMN glad I got off the freeway when I did.

I girl in my high school fell asleep while driving the wrong way on the freeway. She woke up scraping the sidewall of a tunnel on I-90. She was pretty hot.

Wrecked a car in high school because of this. I was driving to a Sat. morning basketball practice, had been up all night (not drinking thankfully). I was slowing down to stop at a light, nodded, opened my eyes and I was very close to someones trunk. tried to swerve but it was too late and that was all she wrote.

Moving home from college sophmore year. Should have stayed one extra day but didn't want to pay the pro-rated rent. My sleep schedule was a mess because of the world cup and the excessive cleaning my roomates left me with. Rear-ended someone in traffic about an hour after leaving. I didn't fall asleep, reaction time just went to hell.

I've never actually fallen asleep at the wheel, but i've kinda briefly nodded off plenty.... and it almost always happens during the late-day/early evening hour. When I drive at night, I'm fine.

I've never been in an accident, but I've nodded off a second and realized what the hell was happening and pulled over to get coffee right away

I feel asleep at 19 coming home from Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. I had two other sleepers in my car and it was a snowstorm, about 7 a.m. and we were trying to make it back in time for one guy's test in Japanese. I woke up when I heard the rumblestrips and we careened off the road. I got a ticket for "Going to Fast for the Conditions," which I challenged, claiming that the officer had no knowledge of what happened. The judge asked me for my version and I declined to answer. I lost and had to pay.

I was coming home from work one Sat. afternoon (I worked about 60 hours that week) and ass-ended a guy that had stopped to make a left. I was so out of it, when I hit him I was shifting from 4th to 5th gear. Airbag kept me from going thru the window, and fortunately the driver I hit turned was ok as well.

Nodded off coming back from Turning Stone the first time I went there. They were out of hotel rooms, so we played all night and headed back the following morning. Rumble strips woke me up, and I made my buddy stay awake and talk to me for the next two hours to avoid nodding off again.

i got it along time ago, but your picture is when he's kissing that guy, so i didn't want to point it out

also i took a bunch of cough medicine and treid to drive home to get more medicine... luckily is was like 11:00 and theroad was empty, i ended up swerving across three lanes and woke up just in time to grab the wheel and swerve a bunch until it finally evened out.

i remember after i just went "YEAH WHAT UP NOW BITCH!"

In high school riding shot gun with a friend driving, I wake up and look over to see him asleep at the wheel. Luckily the ruts were so bad in the road my old truck just followed right along.

Yes, on the Taconic Parkway in upstate NY... anyone who has driven on this road knows how scary that one is. Woke up as I was about to hit one of only 2 or 3 guardrails on the entire upper half of the parkway... cut the wheel at the last second and luckily just scraped the entire side of the car up, fishtailed all over the road and came to a stop. I changed the tire and drove the remaining 10 miles home.

Best part was, it was my ex-girlfriend's car, and I had just dropped her off at LaGuardia and was on my way home. We had stayed up all night arguing and she was flying to France for a family funeral. She was thrilled.

Any good psychoanalyst would point out that you clearly did this on purpose.

My senior year of High School I decided that my 89 ford probe wasnt good enough. I borrowed 1000 from my dad and 1000 from my mom to buy a 96 Escort GT (big improvment) for 3300. I had the car for three weeks and had to drive my GF home one night because she had ACL surgery and couldnt drive.

On the 10 mile drive back to my house I fell asleep at some point while still singing along to the radio. I made the big mistake of having it on cruise control.I woke when my car hit a rock on the side of the road that was about a foot tall. I didnt realize how bad it was and tried to drive off but wasnt going anywhere. The passenger door and roof were buckled in from the impact. The car was totaled and I was devestated.

I dunno, I was still trying to get back in her pants at that point.

I almost dozed off today on the way home from Turning Stone... it was the closest I've come since that accident, at one point on the Thruway I realized I'd had my eyes shut for 10-15 seconds and had to bang my head on the steering wheel until I got to a rest stop. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

When I was 19, Spring of 94, I just started working a night shift and I got off work at 6AM and at 6:23 I woke up as my car was doing about 80MPH on its way into a ditch. The car slid sideways in to a cement driveway built over the ditch, it flipped and rolled 2 times over the driveway and caught the driver's side wheel well and flipped 3 times end over end. I am 6'4" and I was in a 1993 Ford Tempo. I was wearing my seatbelt and I walked away from it with a cut above my eye that took only 8 stitches to close......

How did I get the cut?????

I had a notebook of CDs on the passenger seat and as the car was flipping my CDs turned into Razor edged throwing stars /images/graemlins/shocked.gif
