Reads would help.

I bet the flop here. No reason to get fancy, you've got a pretty disguised hand with a common overcard. I really don't think that button would be betting the flop with JT here. I think that you would've heard from KK or QQ preflop. I seriously doubt he plays 99 like this.

I 3-bet the river (although admittedly this might be spewing). I think he has KQ.

Bet the flop.

Since you didn't I 3 bet the river. I don't think you need worry about KK or QQ with no raise PF.

I find it hard to believe he has a bigger set or JT, unless he is a complete donk. The only reasonable hand I can think of is 33 or KQ.

I 3bet.

raising preflop is not a bad idea, as it makes the hand so much easier to play

the bet the flop

and then 3-bet the river

fastplaying is the new slowplaying

I don't like raising 88 out of the bb into a large field.

Even I'd 3-bet this river.

In retrospect I thought I should have 3-bet it as well, but being the purse carrying Sally that I am, I called and was shown KTo

Bet the flop.

Bet the turn and cap or call a cap, repeat the action on the river.

cap the hell out of this on all streets, KQ, JT hearts, or an underset are very likely

Why is everyone saying to bet this flop?

Waiting for an 888 flop to slowplay?

EDIT: 3-bet that river all day.

Why is everyone saying to bet this flop?

Because its the best way to make money. What do you gain from checking?

You let people catch up. I think you can win a bigger pot by slowplaying this.

I hardly ever slowplay and I would check this flop. Sometimes I would check/raise the flop, but most of the time I heat it up on the turn.
