View Full Version : I Almost Feel Bad For Jason White...
But, then again, I do go to USC.
Still though (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?id=2051504), this guy can't get a break. I like how Dick Vermeil suggests he play arena football. Arena football? With his knees? What a joke.
Also... He's been in college for the past 6 years... He should have 3 or 4 degrees to show for it. Maybe it's time he think about getting a "normal" job.

You really think a Heisman winner from Oklahoma is gonna have a tough time finding a good-paying "job" (and I use that term loosely) in Oklahoma?

All I know is that he was a 3rd (THIRD!!!!) round draftpick of the Rams, and then he quit football during training camp.
Further proof of Mike Martz' genius...

I know you were joking, but I wonder if you can actually "retire" from football if you never had a career to begin with?

Don't. He's 23 or so, has a heisman, went to college for free, has likely has countless sexual escapades with cheerleaders, groupies, and the like, and has had more fame in his life than 99.999999% of all people in the United States. Also, as stated elsewhere, I doubt he'll be hurting for a good-paying job in OK, should he stay there.

Actually Crouch is playing over in NFL Europe right now.

The Cheifs are trying to get him to play safety. They have shipped him to NFL Europe to get him some PT before camp.

Yeah I had a good laugh when they said he was retiring.

This is like the above mentioned Crouch. He "retired" from football, and had a very high paying job as a local sports guy for a Nebraska TV station. These guys will never be hurting for high paying jobs. Frazier was another example of this.
He's like 40 years old. This might be his mid-life crisis.

You would be surprised. I know him personally. He has a 3 year old kid and lives with his 'girlfriend'. He does still get around some, but not near as much as you would think.
I really feel bad for him too, he's such a nice guy, and it doesn't even seem like he's getting a chance.
Texas sucks.

Do you really think the highest paying job in Oklahoma is the equivalent of that of an NFL quarterback?
Answer: obviously not, you're just trying to say this guy isn't gonna be forced into the gutter anytime soon, but having a cushy job in OK is nothing like having a promising career in the NFL.

even if he were to sign a free agent contract and manage to hang on, I'd call White's career in the nfl anyting but promising at this point.

I don't. A guy with average talent at best who walked backwards into one of the highest honors in college football. We all should be so lucky.

Then he should have tried not sucking so much.
Honestly, there are 100 NFL quarterback jobs total -- it's not a real shock that someone can't cut it. And really, I think he'll be making a decent wage, but we can't all have the plush, worryless life of an NFL 3rd stringer.

He may be a nice guy. I don't know. But he doesn't have the tools and he's got two bad knees. Why would anyone give him a chance?
