I'm starting this thread because of this comment. (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=2293525&page=0&view=& sb=5&o=&vc=1)

Which style of pizza do you think is the best?

Pizza factory in Florence, MA. Veryy thin, but it's wheat crust and very cheesy.

I didn't realize that Connecticut was known for it's pizza, but that's why the 'Other' option is there.

Also, I've had pizza in CT and wasn't particularly impressed.

apparently sally's and pepe's are the best pizza in the world. my favorite is grimaldi's in nyc though. any serious pizza poll has to have CT on there, having chicago and not CT is ridiculous.

any poll about pizza without Buffalo mentioned is ridiculous. Or was that CT...

exactly the two places I was thinking of.
They alone make CT a necessary option.

Well, yes and no. I've heard of a pizza referred to as a pie all the time. I thought that most people do. I've never heard someone refer to a slice of pizza as a "slice of pie." A slice of pie means that it's apple, blueberry, lemon meringue, whatever.

That said, I DO think that pizza is supposed to be flat.

New York pizza is the only pizza.

Chicago style blows. Way too much bread.

I've had considerable amounts of both to make a fair assessment.

This is assinine. Chicago Style probably has just a little more bread than NY, but Chicago has WAY more Cheese and Sause.

Chicago Thin. Chicago is the Pizza Capital of the World. We have multiple kinds. There's also Chicago Stuffed, as in Girodano's - but that's not my fave.

Sorry, New Yorkers. I've had your pizza, and it just ain't.

For deep dish, Uno's is the It. Gino's blows.

Other than the Mystic Pizza on the way to Foxwoods I've never had any. But I'll take your word.

A few weeks back a pizza discussion got going at my table and someone mentioned a place in New Haven which had a long line just about every hour it is open. This guy said it's the best. Do you (or anybody else) know which place he is talking about?

He is talking about Pepe's or Sally's, which are both on Wooster street. Modern Pizza is also in New Haven, and is also better than all but a handful of pizza places outside of New Haven.

Last time I was in the Windy City with the family, we stopped there. Aside from taking well over an hour to get our pizza (in the restaurant), and when we finally DID get it it was cold, it kicked ass once they got it right. Third time they try is a charm, huh?

Rick Nebiolo

I like both but NY Pizza better since done right it has a very thin crust (hate doughy crust), not too much cheese, and a spicy sauce.

Why is it so rarely done right outside of New York?

I know a few half decent places in LA metro area (none are close to where I live) but like today I had a smog check and while I was waiting I ordered a NY Pizza from a place in a mini-mall with a big menu sign saying "NY Pizza" and it was busy so I figured why not try it, busy usually means good. It was better than average for LA Pizza it sucked by NY Pizza standards. Crust was too thick for one and it didn't fold. This seems like it is usually the case out here.

Does anyone know of good NY Pizza in the LA and Orange County areas?

~ Rick

The correct answer is Baba Louie's Organic Sourdough Pizza. Artisan sourdough crust, top quality ingredients and perfectly designed recipes. Their best pizzas are without red sauce IMHO but both types are excellent.

Come to Western MA if you doubt me and I will treat you.

I've lived in Kansas since I was 4 and I don't think I have *ever* eaten any pizza from Dominos. So I'm afraid I cannot vote in this poll as its choices are inherently flawed.
