Are they worth more than regular points?

Not worth more, however a good bench is pretty important to have because it can make an average starting lineup into a great team (see Celtics0.

You could make the same argument for every single stat besides total points...

The danger of the bench stat, and falling too much in love with it, is when you have a team like the Spurs bringing Ginobli off the bench, or when the T-Wolves were bringing Szczerbiak off the bench. This kind of thing where you're taking a guy who is going to play starter every night off the bench can make a team's bench points waaay inflated. But having 3 or 4 guys who can come off the bench and give the starters a lift is always a huge plus.

Agreed. I love having Ricky come off the bench because if he starts, he's solid but not great. However, against tired starters/bench players he looks like an all-star.

Stats per bench-warming ass measure depth more accurately. Someone already posted about the numbers of the whole bench getting inflated because of an otherwise starter-quality player getting off the bench for some reason.
