Hand Analysis please!!!

I got beaten with this hand.
He had a large 4000+ stack, I had 1900+.

I opened with a 4xBB bet (200) and x called.
Flop and turn, he checked, and I bet 200, he called.
River he checked, I bet 200 he went all in, I called assuming a bluff.

Should I have spotted it? Sould I played it differently?

Bet 300-400 on the flop and then go all in on the turn if he calls the flop.
