Well with all the match.com business with bruiser, i thought id ask about eHarmony. Has anyone used this successfully? Earlier in the month i spent what seemed like hours to fill out their personality profile and they ended up matching me with.... nobody.
Thats right, out of the thousands of people on eHarmony, nobody matches me. That's really tough on the self esteem. Sounds like my next Dear Bison, letter.
How long did you wait? A friend of mine used this and there were no matches at first, but then it sent a ton over the next few weeks.

Someone explain this all to me. Services are actually needed?
And guys really want to find a chick that needs a freaking service to just meet a guy?
I could never get over the fact that my significant other had to use the internet to find a guy, even if it was me.

its different because YOU also would have been on the internet searching for a girl.
is it neccessary? no. but my last relationship started on the internet (different forum, not a dating site) and everything turned out well (until the end). so im definatly not opposed to using the internet to find girls, if it works.
So you would rather make fun of guys who wanted to use the internet to meet a chick, while you use your left(or is it the right) hand to interact with your(porn site) women.
Come off it.

Here's my 2 cents...
The idea of eHarmony is good. People who are serious about finding the ONE should not be using things like Match.com because the latter service is more for random hook-ups and short-term romances. Something like 50% of the people on Match are married!
And the method eHarm uses is good too because it matches people based on all kinds of qualities like how much personal space they need or how important kids are...
But it's a little over-rated.
Here's a story about my friends who used eHarm:
They both signed up for the service. She got a year's subscription and he paid for a month or two. Both were matched with people and she even met a few fact-to-face. None of the matches panned out for long-term romance. The matches just weren't *exactly* right.
My friends were on it at the same time but were not matched to each other. They both still had active accounts (his wasn't paid, but he was still sent matches. If he liked a match, he could pay to get contact information.)
They were set up by friends.
They are amazingly happy together and perfectly suited for each other. They will probably get married.
Why didnt eHarm figure this out? Because eHarm is a load of [censored].
Furthermore, eHarm is associated with Focus on the Family, which is basically the religious right and totally anti-gay. So, some of the profits from eHarm goes to fund the conservative, marriage-nazi agenda.
And eHarm will not match homosexuals. They also won't match people who "fail" their test (20%) because they're too depressed or something.

If by "associated," you mean that they had published some of the founder's books. Then, yes.
There really isn't any business relationship however. The founder is a Christian, but as far as I know the only result is that they don't do gay matches.

I wouldnt rather make fun of them, but I admit it I dont understand why these dating services are so popular. I find the 'regular ways' (I admit I cant define regular) to work fine.
The question I am posing is... how many well adjusted, attractive women need to use a service like this? Maybe ones who have some stronger problems in the social arena?

Many people that have no trouble meeting and hooking up with others DO feel like they have trouble meeting "the one"

I think the stigma of online dating and who is attracts is largely non-existant for the 20-something generation. Everyone gets bored, even hot chicks.

So these services are being used by 30-somethings and up who have given up hope?
The fact that I cant understand it probably mostly comes from the fact that Im 22 and these problems dont really affect people my age.
