just making sure i shoulda folded my KQc on the flop instead of raising it right? in retrospect, a laydown here seems best to me because even if the BB doesn't have a high pocket pair, he could have AK or AQ discounting my outs. Am I looking at this right? I am new to hold 'em so please help!

I read your hand before dinner, thought about it durring dinner, came back to check the responses and there were none. So I'll throw out my 2 cents.

I think that your analysis is right. I like the raise on the flop better if you weren't 3 bet PF but I'd say a fold is in order here.

At least a K or a Q didn't fall on the turn and you didn't get sucked in further.

Also, if you're new to Hold'em, 5/10 might not be a great place to gain experience.

perhaps..... KQs is a flop hand. Once the flop didn't give you a royal, royal draw, flush, flush draw, straight, or straight draw, dump them..... they are no longer any good. because of the reasons you have already listed...

I would wager that a solid read on your opponents would have saved you a bet here. Most of the time this is a quick fold. Your play worked out great, in that it got you to the river cheaply, which is nice. Easy fold if reraised on the flop.

Well, I am relatively new to poker, I learned the rules July 20th of 2004, I started playin 50 cent dollar on Sept 20 2004, I use pokertracker and read books, I was beating 3/6 at about 2.7 big bets per 100 hands over about 55k hands while 2-tabling, so I figured I'd give 5/10 a shot, isn't that ok? so far after 4000 hands I am averaging 3.3 big bets per 100 hands at 5/10 I figure I'd stay with it for a while. what do you think?

Over 50K hands it's really new to hold'em. If you can beat 3/6 for 2.7 BB, you made the right choice moving up.

Being 3-bet with you hold K-Q is never a good situation. I mean if you hit a good flop you can reasses your situation, but you are definetly raising the flop with the worst hand most of the time in this situation. What are you raising for? You have a BDFD and no pair Easy flop fold IMHO.
