AIM virus

yea so theres this virus going around on campus on AIM where out of nowhere the virus will IM to your friend whom you are talking to or just talked to. and the IM will have a link that ....well, lets not get into that. anyway, does anyone know what to do. ive run adaware and two virus scans and im gettin nothing.

just as a heads up, if anyone you're talking to sends you a "wow, this is cool check this out (www.youareafuckingfaggot.com) " dont click it. Except the URL will likely be different and it will be something you have to upload i think

Yeah, it sends the link to everyone on your buddy list, I think. I've gotten it from two people so far, but it looked way too suspicious to click on.

Not sure what to do about it, though.

Yeah, the ones I got were similar. "hey check out this", with "this" being a link to some .com file.

dont know what its called, but its annoying as hell
my suitemate has it and his virus just sent an IM to everyone on his buddy list. so he had a shitload of IM windows on his screen.

anyone wit idea?

This virus is showing me how many of my friends are just plain stupid. This is such an obvious virus, but I've already gotten this over 20 times. I'll leave an away message up, come back and find 10 people telling me "Hey check this out"

I might have dled another version of this virus a while ago. Well, in firefox it asks you to download something. I don't know about other browsers.

One of these is going around on MSN messenger, too. It was a link to some picture upload website.

Oh yeah, and stuff like this has been around for a while. Whenever someone IMs me telling me to check out a link, I always ask what it is or something... anything to solicit a response from him/her so I know it's legit.
