Is there anyother way to play it? And is it worth it to take this gamble with no read?

I'd gamble in a smaller toureny (esp an 800 chiper), but I'd usually lay it down here. He's going to have AA or KK a lot.

The big raise is suspicious. I might just call with position and see how the flop comes.

You can fold pre-flop or just call pre-flop. The only way I raise there is if I'm trying to get my opponent allin and there is no way I'm then folding to the push.

Absent any reads I would just muck it to start with (if possible face up, /images/graemlins/wink.gif ).

The best solution is to look at his/her PT stats or Prophecy stats and take ram/jam line or fold based on that...

How many people are raising 8+ BBs from UTG with AA? KK is possible but I think it's a stretch. On the other hand, this would be a great way to play these hands occasionally for this reason. However, I think in general that playing them this way is going to give up a lot of value.

I think a lot of the time you're going to see JJ or QQ, so I think you call the push. I agree with others that I'm more inclined to take a flop and fold to the highly likely bet if I whiff in this situation.

I pretty much always fold to a 5xBB+ raise in level one with AK (assuming it is a sane person making the raise). Yes it sucks to fold a good starting hand but this early on it's not worth gambling with AK.
