I had this same question in my math thread but I decided just to spin it off on it's own. What I need to know is what positions should exist for varying numbers of people in a tournament:
10: UTG, UTG+1, MP1, MP2, MP3, CO+1, CO, Button, SB, BB
9: UTG, UTG+1, MP1, MP2, MP3, CO+1, CO, Button, SB, BB
8: UTG, UTG+1, MP, CO+1, CO, Button, SB, BB
7: UTG, UTG+1, CO+1, CO, Button, SB, BB
6: UTG, UTG+1, CO, Button, SB, BB
5: UTG, CO, Button, SB, BB
4: UTG, Button, SB, BB
3: Button, SB, BB
2: SB, BB
What changes should I make to the above? I realize there is some personal preference here maybe, but I'd just like to get as close to the generally accepted standards as possible.

I would go with:
10: UTG, UTG+1, UTG+2, MP1, MP2, MP3, CO, Button, SB, BB
9: UTG, UTG+1, UTG+2, MP1, MP2, CO, Button, SB, BB <-- You had 10 here
8: UTG, UTG+1, MP, MP2, CO, Button, SB, BB
7: UTG, UTG+1, MP, CO, Button, SB, BB
6: UTG, MP, CO, Button, SB, BB
5: UTG, CO, Button, SB, BB
4: CO, Button, SB, BB
3: Button, SB, BB
2: SB, BB

I actually have my own. I call them UTG, UTG+1, EP, EP+1, MP, MP+1, CO, Button, SB, BB.
That's because I want to separate the first two seats from the next two. They should be played differently.

i've heard of the co+1 in a 10 handed game being referred to as "The Hijack"
i think i like it.

I'd go with UTG, Button, SB, BB here.

Isn't that CO-1?
CO+1 would be the Button, right?

I think we can use bisonbison hand converter as a guide.

I do agree, and the formatting of this converter is more or less an exact copy of the bison converter. I think the list I have is probably the same as the bison converter, or at least not off by much.
