View Full Version : Is this river disgustingly weak tight?

I regularly play 5-10, and have taken occasional stabs at 10-20. Today I decided to take my first shot at Party 15-30, full ring, ridiculously under-bankrolled, but whatever. Am I playing scared on the river?

Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (9 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif, K/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
5 folds, CO calls, Button calls, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (4 SB) 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif, Q/images/graemlins/club.gif, 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif (4 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, CO calls, Button calls, SB folds.

Turn: (5.50 BB) K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (3 players)
Hero bets, CO calls, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, CO calls, Button caps, Hero calls, CO calls.

River: (17.50 BB) 8/images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players)
Hero checks, CO checks, Button bets, Hero calls, CO folds.

Final Pot: 19.50 BB

PS: Everyone's noted how the 15-30 is just as loose as the 3-6 at Party, I never really believed it until now... Ridiculous...

I would raise preflop.

I think postflop is perfect. Unless Button is the type that would play K3,Q2, etc, there arent many 2 pair hands you can put him on and he would probably raise a big king preflop, so it looks a lot like a set of 2s or 3s; especially given that he called 2 cold on a totally draw free flop and then went nuts on the turn.

Yup, what NL said. Only way you do anything different is if you have some PT stats on the guy that show he is a loon. Although I do not raise this one preflop.

Some people just got nuts with 2 pair.

I'd have played same as you did and expected to be shown 22 or 33.

against a CO open limper and button over limper, i'd raise prelfop here.

postflop is fine. this isn't a draw heavy board and this guy called two bets cold and then went nuts on the turn. you're up against a set here a lot.

You're losing a large percentage of the time on the river. Check-call is definitely correct here.
